Ila Mae Mortensen, age 88, joined the Lord, her departed family, and friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids on October 14, 1936, the daughter of Victor and Rebecca Christensen. She was the eldest of five siblings. On May 23, 1959, she married Dale Mortensen, together they raised three sons. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother. Ila was a woman of faith; in her younger years before losing mobility she was very active with Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen. Ila was preceded in death by be husband, Dale, who passed away on December 3, 2019; and brothers, Marlin Christensen, Sheldon Christensen, Joseph Christensen; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Mortensen. She is survived by her sons, Darrell (Cheryl) Mortensen, Neil Mortensen, and Jim (Kris) Mortensen; grandchildren, Dale Mortensen, Erica Mortensen, Joshua Mortensen, Sara Mortensen, and Tyler Mortensen; and brother, Larry Christensen. Funeral services for Ila will take place at Settlement Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Rev. Nan Dehnke will serve as officiant. At Dale and Ila’s request, no graveside services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Habitat for Humanity or Samaritas.
