Lola Fay Proffitt Grubbs passed away on October 14, 2024 at the age of 90 in Lexington, Kentucky after a life devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy years, Paul Madison Grubbs, their children Cindy (Ed) Stamper of Monticello, Kentucky, David (Melissa) Grubbs and Lisa Grubbs of Lexington, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six siblings and is survived by one sister, Anita (Greg) Elam of Lexington.
Born in Laurel County, Kentucky on September 17, 1934 to Obert and Alice Proffitt, Fay grew up in the shadow of Wildcat Mountain before moving to Lexington as a child. She and Paul met and married in Indianapolis, Indiana before moving back to Lexington to raise their family. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for many years, then Porter Memorial Baptist Church, both in Lexington.
Fay loved children. She enjoyed working in the church nursery, babysitting her grandchildren, and her home was a haven for the neighborhood kids.
Visitation will be held at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23rd, with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home . She will be laid to rest at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jessamine County.
