CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

August 26, 1937 - October 14, 2024

Shirley "Sheryl" Carnes Gudlaugsson Daughter of late Curtis and Margaret Carnes,

passed away peacefully with the love of her family surrounding her on Monday, October 14th, 2024 at the age of 87 in Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Ragnar Gudlaugsson. He was a wonderful husband and companion. They were blessed to have found each other and to have enjoyed all those years together.

Also, survived by her former husband Bill Spruill, their son Jason Spruill, daughter-in-law Christina Spruill, grandchildren Zachary Spruill and Angelina Spruill.

Son by marriage Mac Gudlaugsson, daughter-in-law Jane Gudlaugsson, grandchildren Matthew Gudlaugsson, Kelly Gudlaugsson Brown, and her husband Nick Brown.

Her sister Elsa Morris, and many nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by her brother Curtis Carnes, sister Iris Gale Lowe, and beloved dogs Kipper & Boston.

Her main passion was cooking for her loved ones. She cooked with heart and soul when feeding her family and friends. She worked at The Ranch House for over 25 years and was loved by many. She had regulars that came in from near and far to see her.

Her eternal resting place is at Sharon Memorial Park in the Columbarium Garden.
