John Michael Fitzpatrick, 96, of Branford passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on Monday October 14, 2024 with his loving wife of 52 years, Beth, by his side. John was born in Waterbury to Michael Leo and Bessie Kirk Fitzpatrick.

John was a graduate of Post Junior College in Waterbury. He was the first man drafted into the army from his hometown, Naugatuck, for the Korean war. He worked for several companies driving semi-tractor trailer trucks before owning and operating his own rig. John was a train enthusiast. He was also an avid baseball fan, often traveling to Phoenix with Beth for spring training from their home in Canada, where they lived for some time after his retirement. He and Beth also enjoyed flying kites on Long Beach, Washington.

Besides his wife, Elizabeth Walton Fitzpatrick, he is survived by a son, John Fitzpatrick, Jr of West Haven and a daughter, Jacki Fitzpatrick of Milford. He is also survived by his grandson Thomas Fitzpatrick and Chris Quiel of Durham; three great-grandchildren Alexandra, Shane, and Liam; two nephews, David Saunders of Lady Lake, Florida and Brad Saunders of Berlin, CT. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Fitzpatrick Saunders.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. Friends may call prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:00.
