Martha Magdalene Barger, 98, of Hardy, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at her home.

She was born in Franklin County on August 16, 1926 to the late Sam Lemon Horne and Lillie Mae Settles Horne. 

She is survived by her son, Crawford M. “Monte” Barger (Susan); four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Louise Barton, Joyce Flowers, Estelle Perdue, Reba Donald; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Horn and Beverly Horne; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman D. Barger; granddaughter, Charlotte Olson; brothers, Raymond Horn, Melvin Horne; sisters, Florence Mayhew and Elizabeth Wertz.

Martha was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church and retired from Kroger having worked in the bakery department.  She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. 

The family will receive friends Friday, October 18th, 2024  from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the Oakey's Vinton Chapel .  A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Wes Carpenter officiating.
