Mrs. Mary Caldwell Collins, 72, of Sherrills Ford, NC passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Terrace Ridge Assisted Living in Gastonia, NC. Mary was born April 12, 1952 in Rock Hill, SC, the youngest daughter of the late James W. and Bradley Dunlap Caldwell.
Mary graduated from Rock Hill High School, Spartanburg Methodist Junior College and York Technical College earning a business degree. After graduation she worked for Inmont Corporation where she met and married the love of her life, Lewis Collins. As Lewis pursued his career in printing inks, Mary worked in various business offices eventually retiring to become a homemaker and then the planner for all the trips the two of them enjoyed and photographed to share with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and David Rogers of Clover, SC.
The family would like to thank Mary’s many friends for their care and support, especially during these past few weeks. Also, many thanks to Levine Cancer Lincolnton, Via Health Partners Lincolnton and Terrace Ridge Assisted Living, Gastonia, NC.
A service to celebrate the life of Mary will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, 700 S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054 with Rev. Dan Commerford officiating. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A private service of committal will be held for the family at Hollywood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Via Health Partners, 900 Donita Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092 or to Western North Carolina Helene relief of the donor’s choice.
