Jerry Dennis Obituary

Jerry Rod Dennis of Soper, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on March 29, 1946, in Hugo, Oklahoma, Jerry was a man of great humor, spirit, and skill, whose presence brought light and laughter to those around him.

Jerry was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. As a boilermaker and welder, his work ethic, creativity and craftsmanship were admired by all who knew him. He was asked to consult on difficult projects and his contributions to the industry left a lasting impact. Jerry's dedication to his profession was paralleled only by his commitment to his family and community.

A proud member of the Choctaw Nation, he embraced his heritage. He enjoyed being an active member of the Choctaw community. He also served his community as a firefighter in Paris, Texas and helped establish volunteer fire stations in his home community.

Jerry's interests were as diverse as his skills. He found joy in playing cards with friends, fishing, and tinkering on projects in his shop. Those who knew Jerry will remember him as a funny, handy, and spirited individual. His ability to help others fix anything, his infectious laughter and his wit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A storyteller at heart, Jerry was always ready with a joke, and his tales will be remembered and retold by those who loved him.

Jerry's life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of living each day to the fullest. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter, and the indomitable spirit of Jerry Rod Dennis.

A true family man, Jerry is survived by his loving daughters, Sheila Dankers and her husband Casey, Jami Waldrum and her husband Daniel, Jillian Nolan and her husband Michael; his son, Renley Dennis; and his daughter-in-law, Deanna Dennis. He was a guiding light to his grandchildren, Liz Dankers, Charlie Dankers, Abby Martin, Rhett Waldrum, Myles Nolan, Maddox Nolan, Emily Weatherly, Kaylee Dennis, and Macy Dennis, as well as his great-grandchildren, Renley, Gracen, Rorie, and Ryan. Jerry was preceded in death by his sons, Barry Dennis and Jerod Dennis; his granddaughter, Morgan Dennis; his parents, Gatha Herman Dennis and Willie Inez Dennis; and his brothers, Roe Dale Dennis and Joe Bill Dennis.
