AMY L. LESIAK (nee Jirecek) passed away peacefully on October 14 th , 2024 at the age of 61, after a long and courageous fight against bile duct cancer.
Amy was born on April 11, 1963 to the late Agnes (nee Noll) and Otto Jirecek and raised in Westlake. She graduated from Bowling Green State University, where she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and met several dear, lifelong friends. She later graduated with her master’s degree from Kent State University and began a career as a speech language pathologist. Her favorite role of all, however, was that of a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. For many years, she dedicated herself to her family, especially to her beloved husband, Paul, to whom she was married for 32 wonderful years, her children, Phillip (Kayla) and Kathryn, and her beautiful granddaughter, Emma. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchild, she is survived by her sister, Linda Jirecek, and brothers, Timothy and Todd Jirecek. She was an amazing beloved Aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Amy’s family and friends will remember her as a creative, compassionate, and deeply fun soul who took pride in decorating her home with the changing seasons, crafting or baking a wide variety of Pinterest wins and fails, scouring the racks for gems at her favorite store (TJ Maxx, of course), and most especially planning terrific parties—including her infamous “Rat Pack” Martini Party, her “Roaring 20s” New Years Eve Bash, the grad parties, wedding and baby showers of her children, and finally her own “Happy Day” celebration of life. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, gardener, and traveler, and in recent years she greatly enjoyed her Friday night bowling league—as much for the bowling itself as for the time it gave her to
decompress and revel in the company of her loved ones.
As a faithful member of the Episcopalian church, Amy took strength in God throughout every step of life’s journey, including her illness. Though she will be tremendously missed, she leaves behind countless cherished memories for all who had the pleasure to know and love her.
Amy’s funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21 st at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 468 Bradley Road, Bay Village. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Her interment will take place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. FRIENDS MAY CALL IN THE McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF WESTLAKE, 25620 CENTER RIDGE ROAD (west of Columbia Road) ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 th FROM 12:00-4:00 P.M.
