Reverend Ralph Martin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. He was born on June 18, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas, to H. Paul and Claudia (Joplin) Martin. He was a man of faith and honor, whose legacy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ralph's early years laid a strong foundation for a life dedicated to service and community. He graduated from Port Arthur, Texas and married his sweetheart, Charlotte Warner, starting their life together and growing their family to include six children over the years. Ralph answered the call of duty and served in the US Army from 1968 to 1973. During his military service, he was recognized for his commitment and valor, receiving several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. His time in the Army not only shaped his character but also deepened his faith, which would guide him throughout his life.

Following his honorable discharge, Ralph felt a profound calling to the ministry and attended the New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He devoted his life to serving others as a Baptist minister at various churches throughout Texas and Louisiana, touching countless lives with his compassion and unwavering faith. Ralph was filled with wisdom and warmth, and his guidance provided comfort to many during their times of need. He retired from the ministry after decades of faithful service. He continued serving others by assisting them with preplanning funerals to help them avoid unnecessary stress, ministering to them in their darkest moments. His love for his family and making people laugh was evident to all who knew him. Beyond his family and ministry, Ralph occasionally enjoyed a game of golf. But what brought him the most joy and fulfillment was leading others to Christ. It was clear his purpose in life was to serve others and he did it exceptionally well impacting thousands of lives, a true difference maker.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sherry Martin of Bokchito; his daughters, Shaun Darnall of New Orleans, Louisiana, Stacey Arabie of Mauriceville, Texas, Selena Spears of Lumberton, Texas, and Sharla Martin of Lumberton, Texas; his sons, Shane Martin of New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Steve Martin of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Charlotte Martin. His legacy of love and laughter will live on through his twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, H. Paul and Claudia Martin, and his brother, Paul E. Martin.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Ralph will be held at a later date.
