Regina A. Mrozinski Obituary

Regina Ann Mrozinski, 83, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, entered the Lord’s Kingdom on Monday, October 14, 2024, leaving behind her children and grandchildren.

Regina was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on January 16,1941 to Stanley and Regina Zubovitz Mrozinski. Regina was quite clever and as a result excelled in school. As a child, she learned to play the accordion and frequently performed for family and friends. Upon high school graduation, Regina enrolled in nursing school and became a registered nurse within the state of Pennsylvania.

After marrying Dr. John Elkas in 1966, Regina moved to New Jersey. The couple built a home in North Caldwell, New Jersey which is where they raised their family.

Regina was a devoted mother to Dr. John C. Elkas of Great Falls, Virginia, Jenifer Elkas of Red Bank, New Jersey and Melissa Elkas of Pompton Plains, New Jersey. She will eternally feel the love and support her children provided to her throughout her life.

Being a cooking enthusiast, she loved trying new recipes and preparing meals for the holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday so much so that she would listen to Christmas carols and hymns year round. Shopping, watching movies, and attending Broadway plays were also favorite pastimes of hers. Regina loved animals and had several cats and dogs as pets throughout her life. She especially enjoyed spoiling her children’s pets with various treats. She was diagnosed with breast cancer twice but overcame the disease both times with her determination, resilience, and strong will.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dolores Snyder, and her daughter, Melissa Elkas. She is survived by her children Dr. John C. Elkas and his wife Kimberly Elkas, Jenifer Elkas, and five grandchildren Emily Elkas, Olivia Elkas, Mason Elkas, Jonathan Wilson, and Julie Anne Wilson as well as her bother in law, Nelson Snyder II of Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania, her nephew, Nelson

Snyder III and his wife Lisa Snyder of Dallas, Pennsylvania. Regina’s family will never forget the

love, laughter, care, and joy she brought to their lives.

There are no services planned at this time but the family plans to honor Regina at a future date/time. Please consider making a donation to Susan G. Komen (www.komen.org) in her name.
