LaVerle Mary Velardi Obituary
LaVerle Mary (Carpentino) Velardi, 83, of Wallingford, loving wife of Donald Velardi for 61 years, passed away peacefully October 14, 2024 at MidState Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
LaVerle was born in New Haven on January 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Frederick and Rose (Lisa) Carpentino,
LaVerle lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service to her family and community.
LaVerle graduated from Hamden High School and married the love of her life, Donald L. Velardi, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. LaVerle will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, devoted mother, caring grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In her younger years, LaVerle was deeply involved in her community. She was extremely active with the Wallingford Junior Woman's Club, where she contributed much of her time and energy. Prior to that, she organized and hosted large dinner dances to raise money for the mentally challenged, showcasing her selfless dedication to helping others. She also worked part-time at Bickfords for over 25 years and worked at Rick’s on 5 most recently.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by her daughters, Donnamarie Poulin (Mark) and Mary Liversidge (Wayne); her grandchildren, Samantha Balan (Mike), Denise Coburn, and Tyler Liversidge; her great-grandchildren, Julianna Dudley, Mason Herman, Carolyn Herman, and Mya Balan; her sisters, Angela Rasmussen (Dan), Lisa Lancia (Anthony), and Mary Giangrande; and many nieces and nephews. LaVerle was predeceased by her siblings, Frederick Carpentino, Charlene Fonda, and Michele Carpentino.
LaVerle's legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her. May she rest in peace.
LaVerle’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 3 pm until 6 pm. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 21, 2024 in the funeral home. Interment will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, donations in LaVerle’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
