It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Amparo Abadilla Meneses, who left us peacefully on October 14, 2024 at the age of 91. Born on March 6, 1933, in Albuera, Leyte, Amparo was the beloved daughter of the late Anatolio Vacalso Abadilla and Juana Ventula Abadilla.

Amparo grew up in a loving household in Albuera and carried that love and warmth throughout her life. On September 28, 1953, she married Teodoro Juanillo Meneses, and together they built a legacy founded on love, family, and resilience. Their union was blessed with 13 devoted children, 45 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherish the memories and lessons she bestowed upon them.

On July 2, 1982, Amparo and Teodoro, along with their seven youngest children, migrated to the United States with only $20 to their names and a single piece of luggage. Amparo began working as a laboratory assistant at UCSF, where she dedicated 10 years until her retirement.

During their time in the United States, Amparo and Teodoro fulfilled their dream of building a home back in Albuera. Amparo spent her retirement years cherishing the growth of her beloved grandchildren. In 1997, they permanently returned to the Philippines to enjoy their well-earned retirement. In 2018, her darling, Teodoro, passed and she moved back with her daughters in the States.

Amparo's legacy of love, family, and strength will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

After the viewing and services today, we will take Nanay back home to Albuera for final burial with Tatay. We will host a two day viewing at Gungab, follwed by mass and then interment at our family plot. The dates are still being worked out, but tentatively we are looking at mid November.
