Linda Jean Russell, 75, of Cross Junction, VA, died on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Linda was born on February 3, 1949, in Winchester, VA, a daughter of the late Waverley and Nellie Belford Kerns. She retired from General Electric in Winchester and would also volunteer at the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley. Linda enjoyed bowling, puzzles, painting art, and caring for animals but above all, she loved to play BINGO.

She was married to the late Gary Russell. Gary died on April 30, 2016.

She is survived by a daughter: Tammy Myer of Cross Junction, VA; a son: Timothy Thorne of Parkersburg, WV; a brother: Donald Kerns and wife Peggy of Capon Bridge, WV: five grandchildren: Cole Myer, Kristian Thorne Puffenbarger (Daniel); Cameron, Aaron. & Kaaron; great-grandchildren: Penelope, Sutton, Cooper Puffenbarger; nieces: Deborah Riney (Steve), Beth Elmore (Jimmy), Jill Morris, Wanda Shanholtz (Randy) and many more nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death along with her parents and husband by her brother: Mack Kerns and her sister: Joyce Morris.

The family will receive friends at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Steve Bursey. Inurnment will be privately held at a later date.
