Doris Gadd, age 86, widow of J.T. Gadd, died Monday, October 14, 2024, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC. She was born January 5, 1938, to V.T. and Vola Rowe Whiteaker in Rockcastle County, KY. Doris graduated from EKU Nursing School in 1986 and later retired from Berea Hospital. She loved her family, friends, colleagues, and church members dearly. Doris enjoyed playing games, especially card games, Scrabble, and online word and puzzle games. She loved spoiling her granddogs. Doris never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. She was a long-time member of Galilee Baptist Church.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Stallsworth, her granddaughter, Adria Murray, her four brothers: twins Harl and Carl in infancy, Boyd Whiteaker, and Norman Whiteaker.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Murray, and son-in-law, Richard, of Pawleys Island, SC; her daughter-in-law, Deanna Mullins, of Rockcastle County, KY; seven grandchildren: Meagan Murray of Richmond, KY, Nathaniel Murray (Amanda) of Richmond, KY, Karen Stallsworth, Deanna Stallsworth Carpenter (Mark), and Laura Stallsworth, Bryan Mullins, and Joshua Mullins all of Rockcastle County, KY; along with ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 6-8pm at Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Sunday, October 20, 2024. Rev. Lee Abney will officiate.
