Theodore D. "Ted" Fesenmyer Jr. Obituary

Theodore (Ted) D. Fesenmyer, Jr., died peacefully on October 14, 2024, his 89th birthday, at UPMC Northwest Medical Center in Oil City, PA. He was the son of the late Theodore and Gladys Brunson Fesenmyer. He was the sixth of seven siblings.

Ted graduated from Farmington High School in 1955. He attended Edinboro College, where he received an Associates’ Degree in Applied Science. He held several machinist positions at Worthington, American Brake Shoe and Joy Manufacturing. He was promoted to Methods Engineer at Joy, the position he held until his retirement in 1997.

On October 20, 1958, he married the former Constance (Connie) Hartle. They were married for 43 years before she preceded him in death on October 26, 2001.

Ted and Connie were the parents of five children. Their son Jim passed away on April 6, 1991. Ted was also preceded in death by five of his siblings, Sis, Henry, Clyde, Frank and Charlie. He is survived by one sister, Mary, of Fryburg, PA; as well as his four children, David of Harrison, AR; Rick of Naples, FL; Lisa of Oil City, PA; and Susan of Oil City, PA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ted was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Oil City. He earned his private pilot license in June 1977. He loved nothing more than a drive through his old stomping grounds in Fryburg. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman, traveling to places like Myrtle Beach and Alaska to pursue his passions. His mantle still sports a prized trophy – the fin of a large Alaskan halibut he caught.

A private service will be held for the family at Reinsel Funeral Home in Oil City. He will be buried beside his wife in Calvary Cemetery in Oil City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s name to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Development Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
