DOTHAN. . .James Buster Wilson, a resident of Dothan, died late Monday afternoon, October 14, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Jones officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, near Columbia, with Lance Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

Buster Wilson was born in the Kelly Springs community of Dale County and was reared in Midland City and Dothan. He lived in Dothan from 1955 until 1981 when he moved to Columbia. Buster returned to Dothan in 2005 where he lived the remainder of his lifetime. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Buster was retired as the President, Owner & Operator of Buster’s IGA in Columbia, Abbeville and Eufaula. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lanton Wilson, his grandparents who raised him, Frank and Jeannie Brogden, his son, Timothy Paul Wilson and a great-granddaughter, Kristyn Rae Templeton.

Surviving relatives include a son, Danny Wilson, Dothan; granddaughters, Tabitha Millering Boyett (Vance), and Sara Wilson Griffin; great-grandchildren, Zachary Boyett, Alyssa Templeton, Alec Templeton, Ashton Templeton and Brad Ward; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Lanton family including a special sister-in-law, Rhonda Herring, Columbia.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Pascal, Chris Templeton, Johnny Garrett, Joel Culbreth, Don Owens and Paul Lee.
