Grace “Gay” Platt, 93, of Burlington, CT, passed away peacefully October 14, 2024. Born February 25, 1931, in Hartford to the late Grace and Claude Minton of West Hartford. Grace was a UConn graduate and enjoyed lifelong friendships from her time there.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Fred, her husband Orrin “Hal” Platt, her daughter Janie and her son Dave. She is survived by her daughter Sue Calhoun of Rocky Hill, CT, her son-in-law, Kevin Calhoun of Calabash, NC, her grandchildren, Stephanie Calhoun of Greenbelt, MD, Kevin Calhoun and his wife Kaitlyn of Westbrook, ME and baby girl due in December, Dan Calhoun and his wife Valerie of Burlington, CT and their daughters Eliza Grace and Abigail Patience and a baby boy due in March. Mom was happiest being half of the Burlington “power couple” of the mid 1970’s. She was the Town Assessor and Dad was the first full time Cop. They loved living in Burlington and the people they knew there.

After retirement, she spent most of her time with her grandchildren and volunteering at the Bristol Fuel Bank. Her favorite things in life were her family, her black labs, the beach, and ice cream. Our family thanks The Atrium of Rocky Hill and the staff at Apple Rehab in Cromwell for their excellent care the last couple of years.

Friends and family may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00am followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home at 11:00am.
