William “Bill” Leo Andring, Jr., 73, of Rural Valley, passed away in his garage the afternoon of Monday, October 14, 2024.
He was born July 10, 1951 to William L. and Edna M. Andring, Sr. He grew up in Great Belt, but moved to his current home in Sagamore to graduate from Shannock Valley High School in 1969.
Bill was the mechanic and owner of Andring’s Service since October 7, 1967, having served the community and made many friends in the 57 years of having the garage. Many conversations were had over the open hood of a car, kids from Sagamore have fond memories of making the trip for penny candy, and his daughters grew up racing creepers and playing with the air hose or watching their dad work late into the night painting cars in the lighted window of the old garage. He had also served in the Army Reserves.
He loved to hunt, particularly with his grandsons, and to go camping, or take weekend drives and find new interesting stops. He was involved throughout the years with the Keystone Sportsman’s Club, Sagamore VFW, Rayburn Beagle Club, Masonic Fraternity and Coudersport Consistory. He always had a dog, and found his best friend in his later years with his bulldog Miley.
Bill’s life centered around his family though. He married his surviving wife Wanneittia on February 24, 1973 and one can only aspire to have the dedication and love that they have had for each other. They had a wonderful marriage, and had two daughters: Heather Andring (fiancé Christopher Cima) of Rural Valley and Kelley Parsell (fiancé Art Hild) of Plumville. Bill’s proudest title was that of “Pap”. He attended just about every game, match, cheer competition, musical or dance recital, made sure the grandkids had someone to get them on or off the bus or to get them to practice, and celebrated their every success. Those who were honored to call him Pap include Brandon (Makayla) Parsell; Travis (fiancé Carlie Palmo) Parsell; Jordan (fiancé Jarret Crise) Parsell; and Willow Andring. Brandon and Makayla welcomed baby Coleson in July, and Pap was so tickled to have his first great grandson.
Visitation will take place at the Carson Boyer Funeral Home, Rural Valley, on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. with graveside service to immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Sagamore.
