Ethel J. (Gyde) Paul, age 95, passed away peacefully in Brighton, MI on October 14, 2024, her 74th wedding anniversary. She was born on January 8, 1929 to Edgar and Bessie (Hicks) Gyde.

Ethel married the love of her life, Guy H. Paul on October 14, 1950. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, bird watching, sewing, quilting, baking, playing cards and helping run their dairy farm in Whitmore Lake. After they retired from farming, they loved to travel around the USA. She was a devoted member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and active with the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society.

She is survived by her two loving sons, David (Michele) Paul of Rockland, ME and Richard (Kelly) Paul of Cape Coral, FL; four treasured grandchildren, Caleb Paul, Jacob Paul, Josh Paul and Shelby Paul; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Guy; infant daughter, Kathy; sister, Annie Wessel; brother-in-law, Elmer Wessel; brother, Edgar Gyde; sister-in-law, Margaret Gyde; and her parents.

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00pm ET at Nie Family Funeral Home – 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 11:00am ET with Pastor John P. Gierach presiding and visitation beginning at 10:00am ET at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church - 2945 E. Northfield Church Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Burial will follow directly after the service in the church cemetery.
