Donald Porter Lord passed away at the University of MD Shore Medical Center at Easton, MD on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was 83 years old.
Born in Ridgely, Donald was the son of the late Robert William Lord and Dorothy May Porter Lord. He was a 1959 graduate of Ridgely High School.
Donald had lived in Ridgely all his life. He retired as an electrician from DuPont after 31 years. He had served in the Maryland National Guard and was a member of the Eastern Shore Stock Garden Tractor Pullers Association. Donald also had a passion for horse racing. He owned and raced his beloved horse Wheeling Jack for many years. Donald loved to watch football with family and friends.
Donald is survived by his wife, Dale Ann Lord of Ridgely; two sons: Scott Lord (Tracy) and Todd Lord, both of Ridgely; a sister, Betty Love of Denton; and a brother Robert “Sonny” Lord of Charlestown, WV. He is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Keenan.
There will be a viewing/visitation from 5 PM until 7 PM on Monday, October 21st, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton. On Tuesday October 22nd at 11AM a graveside service will be conducted in the Ridgely Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department, 101 Sunset Blvd, Ridgely, MD 21660.
