Herman Clyde Plybon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 14, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on June 10, 1937, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Herm lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and passions.
Herm was known for his warm smile and generous spirit, traits that endeared him to everyone he met. His journey through life was one marked by hard work and devotion, both in his professional endeavors and his personal interests. As a shoe salesman for E.T. Wright, Herm applied himself with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. He was more than just a salesman; he was a man who truly enjoyed connecting with people and bringing joy to their day. Herm had a generous nature and often enjoyed quietly helping others in need.
Outside of work, Herm thrived in his various pursuits, especially those shared with friends and family. An avid golfer, he spent countless afternoons perfecting his swing on the golf course and cherished the camaraderie of the game, as well as the life lessons the game of golf teaches. Always seeking adventure, Herm enjoyed skiing, often sharing tales of his time on the slopes, and had a deep love for basketball, baseball, football and sports that reminded him of his own youthful enthusiasm and energy.
Above all, Herm's greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to his dear wife, GG Plybon, with whom he shared over six decades of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, raising two remarkable daughters, Kim (Tommy) Turkiewicz and Mollie Vollenweider. Herm’s role as a father was his proudest achievement, and his love extended effortlessly to his cherished grandchildren: Charlie, Cat, Chip, Cookie, Luke, Gracie, and Mallory. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness, humor, integrity and zest for life.
Preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Esther Plybon, Herm's life was a testament to the love and values instilled in him from an early age. Though he has now joined them, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
