Leo F. Dugan, Jr. Obituary

Dateline: Malta, NY

Leo F. Dugan, Jr., age 57, died peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Peter’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Leo was born on July 28, 1967, in Glens Falls, NY and was the son of the late Leo and Angela (DeCrescente) Dugan.

Leo graduated from Stillwater High School with the Class of 1985. He met the love of his life, Sheri, when they were both fourteen years old, officially uniting in 2002, and later being wed in July of 2011. Leo began working at his family business, DeCrescente Distributing Company Inc., delivering beer all over the local area for many years. He then went on to serve his community in many notable positions at various locations throughout his career. Leo was the past Fire Chief with the Hemstreet Park Firehouse, the past Captain with the Mechanicville Fire Department, and was a volunteer at Arvin Hart Fire Company. For a couple of years, Leo also owned a thriving repo business. Throughout his life, Leo served as an EMT, beginning in the 1980’s with the John Ahern Ambulance Squad, and later both Jessup’s Landing and West Glens Falls EMS in the 2000’s. For some time, Leo proudly worked in maintenance at the Home of the Good Shepherd. More recently for the past three years, he was supervisor of paid staff with Pittstown Ambulance Rescue Squad.

In addition to his vocational successes, Leo was truly a jack of all trades, with admirable talents and a joy for all things outdoors. He spent time hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his family from a young age and even won several trophies for dirt bike racing. Leo found immense love in helping everyone in his community and never spared an opportunity of generosity to others.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife and companion of twenty-three years, Sheri L. Dugan; his five children; his nine grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews. Some of Leo’s fondest memories were sharing his passions with his sons, Bubba Dugan and Michael Snyder.
