Mary Evelyn Norsworthy Godwin of Dyersburg, TN went to be with her Lord on October 14, 2024, at Jackson General hospital in Jackson, TN surrounded by family. 

Mary was born on April 7, 1952, to Harrell and Rebecca Tickle Norsworthy at Obion County hospital in Union City. She and her five loving siblings grew up on a farm in the Templeton community. Holidays were always full of playing card and board games, cooking together, and enjoying delicious meals. Mary and her family attended Harmony Baptist Church, where Mary placed her faith and trust in the Lord at an early age. 

Mary joined Donald Wayne Godwin in marriage on December 23, 1977. They became the proud parents of two sons, Daniel and Patrick. In their retirement years, Mary and Don enjoyed fishing on Reelfoot Lake and also spending time with their two loving grandsons, Tyson and Luca. 

For over 34 years Mary taught school in Dyer County at Fifth Consolidated Elementary School. She loved all her students and especially enjoyed teaching third grade students. She took great pride in watching them gain independence and in their eagerness to learn new and exciting things. 

Mary is survived by her husband Donald W; son Daniel W Godwin (Tracy) and two grandsons, Tyson and Luca of Madison, AL; son Patrick A Godwin of Chicago, IL; three sisters Patricia N Parnell, Rebecca N Williams, and Jo N Keeton (Jimmy) of Newbern, TN; two brothers David Norsworthy( Jane) and Charles Norsworthy (Carol) of Newbern, TN; two nieces Cindy P Dobbs (Edward) of Nashville, TN and Kimberly N Johnson of Newbern TN; two nephews Brad Norsworthy of Trimble, TN and Wade (Sam) Norsworthy of Troy, TN; and ten grand nieces and nephews.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, Harrell and Rebecca Norsworthy, nephew Dwayne Parnell and in-laws Woodrow and Virginia Dennison Godwin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Godwin will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Mark LaRue. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home
