Pearlie M. Hill was born on July 1, 1936, in Dawson, Georgia, to Buford Ham and Willie Mae Calloway. She passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024.
Pearlie grew up in a large and loving family. She was the second oldest of ten children. Pearlie was preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy Walker, Henry Calloway, and Freddie Calloway; and three sisters: Ora Lee Sesberry, Eula Mae Newkirk, and Hattie B. Ward. She is survived by three brothers: Willis Calloway, Pope Calloway, and Harry Calloway.
She met and married John C. Hill, who preceded her in death. Together they raised six children: Evelyn Mincey, Mattie Walker, Barbara Reddicks, Georgia Briskey, John C. Hill Jr., and Patricia Scavo. She was a beloved grandmother to eleven, a great grandmother to fourteen, great-great grandmother to nine, and an aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
Pearlie was a member of Union African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served as Usher for many years. A valuable member of her community, Pearlie was known for her love of the outdoors, family and her warm spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of other family, friends, and all who loved her and were lucky enough to know her. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, selflessness, and willingness to accept and help anyone who needed a hand. She knew no stranger. She will not be forgotten, for she loved so deeply and purely that she imprinted that on all of us! We will forever carry a piece of her with us.
