Nellie A. Hainly, 94, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024. Born Friday, November 1, 1929, in Palmyra, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mamie (Flory) Straub. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen Hainly, who passed in 1996.
Nellie was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a 20-year veteran golfer, and loved the outdoors and gardening. Most importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her 2 children: Dianne Orwig and Robert Hainly (Shirley Newhart); grandchildren, Heather Matthews (Chris), Brent Orwig, Julia Williams (Andrew), Joseph Hainly (Jessica), and Hillary Newhart (Nicholas Mazzetti); great-grandchildren, Ryan Matthews, Emily Matthews, Erica Matthews, Morrigan Williams, Caroline Hainly, Edith Hainly, and June Hainly; and her sister, Lucy Mae Straub. She was preceded in death by siblings, Herbert Wilson Straub and Franklin Roosevelt Straub, along with her husband and parents.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 beginning at 11AM at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 25 W. Pine St, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor John Marcott officiating. Interment will follow in Campbelltown United Christian Church Cemetery, Campbelltown. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10AM until the start of the service.
