A TIME TO BE BORN
Elder Barbara Ann (Wallace) Carmena was born on April 9, 1959, to Mr. Jeff Wallace and Evangeline Wallace in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Barbara grew and flourished thanks to the strong roots at home and the nourishment that unconditional love provides in one’s development. Barbara had a strong work ethic and believed that no one could stop you from accomplishing your goal but yourself.
A TIME TO LIVE
If you asked a hundred people who Barbara Ann Wallace-Carmena was, they’d all give you a different answer. Some would say a devoted mother; a proud grandmother; a dutiful daughter; a kind and considerate sister; a first-rate and second-to-none aunt; a faithful and true friend; a fun-loving, jolly, and good-hearted person. The list would go on endlessly. Although each person would use a different adjective to describe her, there is one common thread, she was a great example of a person who lived, loved, and was loved by many. She was reared on St. Simons Island, Georgia, and attended the Glynn County Public Schools and was a 1978 Glynn Academy High School Graduate, Brunswick, Georgia. In 1977, she married Mr. Terrell Jermone Carmena, Sr., and to this union, five (5) children were born. She joined the 4th Street Church of Christ Written In Heaven, Brunswick, Georgia, and received the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Bishop Ben C. Johnson in 1977, and continued serving when the church moved and became Atlanta Avenue Church of Christ Written In Heaven under the leadership of Pastor Joyce Johnson Handy, whom she loved and adored. She was a woman of faith, a prayer warrior, and was faithful to God and to his house until her death.
