Daryl Duane "Skip" Lettie Obituary

Daryl Duane "Skip" Lettie, aged 85, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024. Born on February 21, 1939, in Porter, PA, Skip was the son of the late Duane and Marietta (Elkin) Lettie.

Skip was a proud graduate of Weatherly Area High School, where he not only excelled academically as the valedictorian of his class but also set a standard of excellence and integrity that he carried throughout his life. Following his graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a period of service that he always held in high regard. After his military tenure, Skip dedicated over 30 years of hard work to the Bethlehem Steel, until his well-deserved retirement.

In his personal life, Skip was a faithful member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Coplay. His interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the greens, enjoying the serenity of the game. He was also an enthusiast of the outdoors, relishing in fishing, hunting, and especially camping in Canada, which provided him with cherished memories and stories.

With a keen interest in technology, Skip was surprisingly tech-savvy for his generation. He embraced new gadgets and innovations with eagerness. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, he loved to cheer on the Eagles on game day.

Above all, Skip was an immensely proud father and grandfather. His beloved wife of over 58 years, Patricia Anne (Hudock) Lettie, was his partner in every sense, and together they raised their daughter, Jennifer Chomo, with love and devotion. Jennifer and her husband, Louis, blessed Skip with two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Chomo, who were the light of his life. He imparted to them the values of family, hard work, and the importance of education, all with a gentle hand and a warm heart.

Skip is also survived by his brother, Larry Lettie, and his wife Sandra, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Skip's life was one of purpose and joy. He met each day with a smile, a kind word, and an open heart. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived.
