Virginia Lee Gulley was born on May 21, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Corneal Gulley and
Theodore Watts.
Virginia’s dedication to her job was unwavering. She worked in viral records at the Arkansas
State Health Department for 26 years, a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment
before retiring.
Virginia loved the Lord. As a teenager, she professed her life in Christ Jesus at the Zion Hill
Missionary Baptist Church of Camden, Arkansas, where she served as an usher and volunteered
at Vacation Bible School during the summer months.
Virginia moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. She continued to serve the Lord as an usher at St. Paul
Missionary Baptist Church and Faith Temple Church of Christ, where we later became a licensed
evangelist. One of her most outstanding achievements was preaching the word of God. She later
joined The Word and The Spirit Ministries in Star City, Arkansas, where she remained a member
until her passing.
Virginia’s unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a testament to her strong belief and
spiritual strength, she was known to end each call with, “I will be here unless God calls me
home.” She received that call on Sunday September 29, 2024, and departed this earth.
Virginia’s family members who preceded her in death were her mother, Corneal Gulley; her
father, Theodore Wats; her sisters, Mary Ann Townsend, and Bentham Broom; and her brothers,
Herschel Oniel Williams, William Ed Brewer, Willie Charle Broom, and James Ed Broom.
Virginia’s love for her family was boundless. She leaves behind her daughter, Demetrius
Cornealius Gulley, her son, David Prunty, and her grandchildren, Travon, Shanella, and David
Jr.; Sister Bernadette Kaye Gulley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces great-nephews, all
of whom she cherished deeply.
