Iris Jean Morefield Arnette, age 73, of Arnette Hollow Road, Vilas, passed Monday, October l4, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Alice Davis. Born November 8, 1950 in Butler, Tennessee, Jean was the twelfth of fifteen children born to Luke and Ann Winters Morefield and was the wife of the late. Ralph Arnette Jr. She was a faithful member of Timbered Ridge Baptist Church. Jean was a loving housewife and mother who found joy in caring for her family. She loved spending time in her garden and enjoyed canning what she grew. Everyone is going to miss her famous apple butter peanut butter cookies. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren every chance she had, and enjoyed spending time with her four-legged babies, Sophie Mae and Zoey Pearl.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Gracie Alice Davis and husband, James, and Mary Angela England and husband, Carlyle, all of Foscoe; three granddaughters, Jennifer Potter and husband, Ervin, Chasity Laws and husband, Gary, all of Trade, TN, and Nicole; three grandsons, TJ Davis and wife, Nicole, of Cove Creek, Thomas Davis of Foscoe, and Rusty Davis and wife, Kirstin, of Mountain City, TN; eight great-grandchildren including Jayden and Riley Davis, Kylie and Kaylee Potter, Weston Davis, and Charlie Laws. Jean is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, Gracie Osborne and husband, Carl, Peggy Woodard, Bessie Hammond, Mary Townsend and husband, Wilbert, and Ed Morefield and wife, Helen, Bud Morefield and wife, Cathy, Harold Morefield and wife, Louise and Earl Morefield and wife, Mae, all of Tennessee; and brother-in-law, O.J. Arnette and wife, Edith, of Lenoir and sisters-in-law, Penny Arnette of Sugar Grove and Linda Arnette and husband, Fuzzy of Boone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, her husband Junior and loving son, Ralph Joel Arnette she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Diane Guy, Nancy Cannon, Junior, Stacie, Everett and James Morefield.
Funeral services for Jean Arnette will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 17th, at 1 o’clock at Timbered Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Derick Wilson and Rev. Chuck Morefield. The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until 1 o’clock, prior to services, at the church. Graveside will follow services at the Arnette family Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Alice Davis, 406 Calloway Road, Boone, in the Foscoe community.
