With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Irma Loyce Herrington, 92, who passed away on October 10, 2024, at Specialty Health and Rehab in Pensacola, FL. She was a devoted mother and friend to all the lives she touched. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS. from 11:30 A.M. until 1 P.M. followed by a graveside service at Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Herrington was a proud graduate from Hattiesburg High School’s Class of 1949 and was a longtime employee of the Mississippi Central Railroad Company where she worked as lead secretary for many years, followed by working for Sears for 25 years before her retirement at the age of 83. She was also a member of Main Street Baptist Church. She loved gardening, playing tennis and watching the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. Irma was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren, embracing every moment with them, but she especially cherished her role as “Granna.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula L. Anderson; one sister, Billie Riley and one brother, Emery Anderson.
She is survived by her three children, Charla Herrington Bethea (Chris) of Cantonment, FL, Darryl Herrington of Hattiesburg, MS, and Charles Herrington Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS; and her two grandchildren, Jared Bethea of Pensacola, FL. and Rachel Bethea of Orlando, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation made in her name to the Southern Pines Animal Shelter in Hattiesburg.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
