David James “Dave” Weimer, 72, of Richmond, VA, passed away on September 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lois Weimer. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karen Weimer; brothers, Gary and James Weimer, sister, Mary Ann Arnone; children, Shelby Hines and her husband Jeff Hines, Shawn Weimer and his wife Heather, Lauren Weimer, Natalie Adams and her husband Luke Adams, David James Weimer Jr. and his wife Mary Josephine; grandchildren, Caleb Hines, Ryan Hines, Elizabeth Jackson, Raegan Weimer, Connor Weimer, Sadie Adams, Noah Adams, and David James Weimer III (Tripp).

David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very much a hard worker throughout his life and he and his wife Karen taught their children the importance of hard work. In his retired years, he cherished the time with his family, but especially his grandchildren who called him “Papa.” He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching sports on TV in his free time. He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed watching the games with his family, and he always believed the Steelers could come back and win, even if they were down by 21 with 2 minutes to play. David enjoyed vacations at the beach, in particular trips to Bald Head Island, NC. He enjoyed working outside in the yard and relaxing on his deck with family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Henrico, VA 23229, where a celebration of life reception will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation
