Alissa King, 56, of Purvis, a beloved member of her community and devoted servant of Christ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and daughter and devoted family and friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and inspiration. With a heart full of compassion, Alissa dedicated 30 years to William Carey University, where she impacted countless students and colleagues with her unwavering commitment to service and education.

Alissa's faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She shared her joy and hope with everyone she encountered, especially during her many health challenges, as a beacon of strength and encouragement. Her witness touched the lives of many, showcasing her remarkable ability to find light in the darkest times.

Alissa cherished her family above all, nurturing deep bonds and creating lasting memories. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, kind spirit, and the love she poured into every aspect of her life.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Jerry Dianne Broom; her infant daughter, Alexandria Leighton King; her grandmother, Annie Moran; her aunt, Tommie Ann Anderson; and her brother-in-law, Leigh King.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Garland W King, Jr. of Purvis; her daughter, Victoria King Crabtree (Seth) of Oak Grove; her father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Brenda King of Purvis; her sister-in-law, Renda King of Purvis; her cousin, Don Whiddon (Judy) of Purvis; her best friends, Melinda Warnke (Larry) of Hattiesburg, Andy O'Flynn (Tracy) of Lizana, Susan Lofton Landry (Buddy) of Gautier, Amanda Freeny Clanton (Clay) of Meadville, Brandon Dillon (Megan) of Oak Grove, Caleb Crabtree (Adriane) of Petal, Denton Plumlee (Lori) of Oak Grove; and a host of extended family and friends that she loved dearly. Alissa's legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding us all to embrace faith, joy, and service in our own lives.

A celebration of Alissa's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Pineview Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and keeping the nursery for many years. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Interment to follow in Mineral Springs Anderson Cemetery.
