John “Tommy” Cross 89, of Topton passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 in a Murphy hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Red Marble Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Thomas Clifford and Lois Grant Cross and husband of the late Annie “Lou” Welch Cross who died August 9, 2024.
He was also preceded in death by an infant sister Ida Mae Cross and a brother Charles Cross.
Surviving are two sons, Ronnie Cross and wife, Glenda of Robbinsville, North Carolina and Gary Cross and wife, Amy of Nantahala, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Barry Cross and wife, Brittany, Keyla Heard and husband, Gary, Mandy, Julius, and Noah Cross; four great-grandchildren, Savannah and Chase and Ben and Natalie.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Red Marble Baptist Church with the Reverend Mickey Stewart officiating. Interment was in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Barry Cross, Chase O’Dell, Julius Cross, Noah Cross, Gary Heard, and Scott Dockery.
The family received friends from 1-2:45 pm Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Red Marble Baptist Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in honor of John “Tommy” Cross to Gideons International P.O. Box 164 Murphy, North Carolina 28906.
