Max Clarence Morris Obituary

Max Clarence Morris, age 94 of Greenville, died late Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Hathaway Hills Assisted Living. He was born February 3, 1930 on the family farm in Evans, Michigan, and his mother passed away three days later due to complications from giving birth. Max attended a one room school schoolhouse until the seventh grade, when he was forced into work on the farm. He enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On August 18, 1951, he married the love of his life, Faith Brunson. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Faith’s death in 2010. Max worked at Federal Mogul for 42 years, many of them in the maintenance department, before retiring in 1995. He was talented and handy and was known as the neighborhood fix it man. There was nothing he couldn’t construct or repair. Max loved the state of Michigan and its natural wonders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events. Max and Faith wintered in Florida for many years after his retirement. He was a man of faith and a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. In addition to Faith, Max was preceded in death by his brothers, Karl, Virgil, DJ, and Jack Morris and his sisters, Dorthea Benham and Betty Combs. He is survived by his children, Ken (JoAnn) Morris of Comstock Park, Dale Morris of Sand Lake, and Karen (Curt) Buchholz of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Mindy (Travis) Galloway of Walker, Katie (Casey) Knapp of Rockford, Justin (Stephanee) Morris of Gladwin, Jeremiah (Lily) Buchholz of Texas, and Misti (Kyle) Bresnahan of Sand Lake; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Paula Lewis; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Marvel Linnan. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Rev. Nanette Dehnke will serve as officiant, and a luncheon will immediately follow. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Corewell Health Hospice, or an organization of one’s choice.
