Michael Alex (Mikie) Ackerman Jr

1994 – 2024

Mikie Ackerman, 30, passed away suddenly in his home in Hutto, TX on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Mikie was born August 27, 1994, to Mike and Maren Ackerman. Mikie attended the University of Houston after graduating from Hutto High School in 2013, where he was Senior Class President.

Mikie loved to have a good time and never met a stranger. He was a book of knowledge, genuine, caring and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to be goofy and make people smile. As an adult, Mikie worked as a cook at the Cotton Country Club in Granger, where he had the privilege of meeting several famous singers and bands. He was known for his “Mikie burger,” his chicken fried steak and he took pride in cooking for everyone. After leaving the club, Mikie worked for his community at the Hutto Resource Center. He built a lasting image on many, delivering food to seniors around Hutto. Even after leaving his position with HRC, Mikie stayed in contact with many of the seniors he built relationships with. Mikie recently started a position with H-E-B working in the BBQ restaurant. Though his time was short at H-E-B he loved the job and the people he was working with. He was very hopeful for a long-term career with the company. If you knew Mikie, you knew he was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Mikie was also a Penn State fan and was able to attend a bucket list game last season, a Penn State White Out, with his parents and brother, Major.

Mikie is survived by his parents, Mike (Sr) and Maren Ackerman; younger brother, Major Ackerman; Grandparents, Eric (Elaine) Stromberg, Kathy Hoover (David Barnett), Dolly Ackerman; Aunts and Uncles, Jamie (Nate) Church, Shelly (Chad) Palmer, Nina (Don) Barker; Cousins, Brittany Cool, Madison Palmer, Kohl Palmer. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, James (Jim) Ackerman.
