David Lewis Collins, 63, Sandusky, passed away in his sleep on September 29, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on April 25, 1961 in Sandusky to the late Robert T. and Willie Mae (Matthews) Collins.
David was well liked by many in the neighborhood. He faithfully cut grass and shoveled snow for many of the seniors in the community. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, even when they did not play very well. David enjoyed grilling outside, however what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family.
David will surely be missed. He leaves to mourn his memory: daughters, Brittany Redding, Columbus, OH, Natasha Collins, Chicago, IL, and Danielle Collins, Sandusky; son, Deontae Collins, Sandusky; thirteen grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Donna) Collins Jr., and Fred (Sharon) Collins, Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Akilah (Celenia) Blakwomyn, California, and Barbara Collins, Williston, OH; special friends, Wanda and Lovell Terrell, Emma Moore, Danny Surry, Margie Anderson, and Mike Bumphus; and a host of other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley; parents; grandparents; sister, Cora Lee Palmer; and niece, Shawndelle Palmer.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.
