Richard James Fairbanks, 55, of Lansing, Kan., died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at home. He was born May 24, 1969, in Panama, to Larry Douglas and Kim Fairbanks.
He is survived by two daughters, Orion Fairbanks of Kansas City, Mo., and Rachel Fairbanks of Lansing; a son, James Fairbanks of Lansing; brother, John Fairbanks of San Diego, Calif.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas Fairbanks.
He served honorably in the Kansas National Guard 130th FA for over 11 years. Richard was also a former Lansing Police Officer.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kenny Bradford for being there for Richard.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed fishing, cheering on the KC Chiefs and bragging about his kids.
A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Muncie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Richard Fairbanks Memorial Fund, a fund set up to continue assisting his children in their life events.
