Patricia Ho Obituary

Patricia Fae Ho passed away peacefully after brief illness on September 29th while in the care of Kaplan Hospice home in Danvers, MA. She was also cared for by the MGH-Danver Cancer Center, and the Beverly Hospital ICU, prior to her short hospice stay at Kaplan.

Patricia has more than three decades of nonprofit volunteer leadership and advocacy work, that focused largely on helping women and their families break through barriers, which included: racism and gender discrimination, food insecurity, lack of affordable housing, poor health care and access to resources - allowing them to have equitable opportunities for self-sufficiency and fulfillment.

Other key highlights include, Patricia serving as national president and board chair of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), based in Washington, D.C., where she focused on equity issues such as Title IX, equal pay and access to STEM careers for girls and women. She is also the founding president of the Essex County Commission on the Status of Women, where she formed partnerships with other groups working for women’s equity.

Patricia also served as board chair of Wellspring House in Gloucester and as co-chair of Salem-based Voices Against Injustice. Previously, she served as president of The House of Seven Gables Settlement Association as well as Health Quarters, Inc. Additional board service includes Peabody Essex Museum, United Way of the North Shore and Healing Abuse Working for Change. She has been recognized by several organizations for her leadership. She was the President and CEO of the family foundation created in 2023.

Professionally, Patricia was director of a Teacher Resource Center and a gifted education specialist, implementing a schoolwide enrichment model in New York schools. As a teacher trainer, she specialized in enrichment learning and creative and critical thinking skills. She has also worked, traveled and volunteered across the globe, including in England, China, Africa, Israel, Cuba and Poland.

Raised in Hawaii, Patricia holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and completed graduate work at Oregon State University. She also holds RSA Cambridge certification from the International Teacher Training Center in Southampton, England. She is survived her husband, Galen in Beverly and her two Children, Tricia Rupright (and her husband Tim) who reside in Rochester, NY and Peter Ho residing in Lowell, MA. She also has two grandchildren, Mel and Mason Rupright.

Her celebration of life will be held at a later date in the North Shore area in November following the private interment in Hawaii. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com .
