John Arthur Hughes, 73, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at his home. He was born September 3, 1951 in Angola, IN, a son of the late John and Charlene Sheridan Hughes.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denese Deming Hughes, on October 7, 2009.
He is survived by his children, Michael Eric Hughes and his wife Michelle of Iona, ID; and his daughter, Elizabeth Earlyne Hughes and her partner, William Bart Naselrotte of Carolina, WV; his grandchildren, Jarad Morgan; Haily, Madison, and Michael J. Hughes; Alexis Raylyne and Kayla Isabelle Thorogood; his great-grandchildren, Jedidah Morgan and Bethel Joy Morgan; as well as his siblings, Kaaran Reed; Anita Erskine; Brian Hughes; Teresa Wisendanger; Charles Hughes; and Cece Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Marty and Brendan Hughes.
John was an artist and skilled tradesman. His love of travel led him to live in many states across the country. And his passion for nature led him to his work at North Bend State Park. John was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as a music enthusiast. More than all of this, John adored, loved, and missed his wife, Denese.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services were provided by Perine Funeral Home, Shinnston. There will be a celebration of John’s life held at the convenience of the family. Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.perinefunerals.com
