Edna Fay “Eddie” Obbish (nee Morgan) of Lemont, IL passed away October 3, 2024 at the age of 85.
She was the only child of the late Chester “Chick” and Ilene Morgan born February 23, 1939. She grew up in Sullivan where she attended Sullivan High School. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1963.
She is survived by her husband Ron Obbish, having celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June. 2 children: Kathy Obbish (Dan) Ohrnstein and Thomas (Amy) Obbish. Preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Obbish. She was the beloved Nana of 9 grandchildren: Abby (Nick) Edgecombe, Kaitlyn (Jack) Vesevick, Emma Ohrnstein, Kylie, Nicholas, Taylor, Austin, Dakota and Hunter Obbish.
Eddie spoke often of her childhood in Sullivan which included fond memories of being a member of 4H, an avid horseback rider and having raised and shown many award-winning Jersey cows. After graduating from college and marrying she lived in the Chicago area. She and her husband owned a tavern and package liquor store in Chicago Illinois until retiring.
According to her wishes she has been cremated and will be buried beside her parents in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. There will be a celebration of life in Darien, IL on October 20.
The family asks that people make donations in support of breast cancer research, in lieu of sending flowers.
