Donald Hay Dawson Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Donald Hay Dawson at home in Newmarket on Friday October 4, 2024, in his 79th year. His was surrounded by his loving family.

Don was the beloved husband of Sandy for 36 wonderful years. Proud father of Bruce (wife Andy) and Ken (wife Andrea). Devoted and loving grandfather of Lauren, Luke, Jackson, Kingston, and Gunnar. Survived by his sister Mary. Predeceased by his father, Kenneth and mother Leila, and sisters Gail and Lynda.

Don was a man whose love for nature was matched only by his love for his family.

After working at IBM for 36 years, Don retired to pursue his passion for the great outdoors at Kashe Lake, where he and Sandy and the resident cat spent countless seasons.

The bonds he forged with his children were unbreakable, built on a foundation of unconditional love. The time he spent with his family was filled with joy, laughter, and treasured memories..

The family would like to thank the nurses and PSW staff that helped them through this journey as well as the staff at Stronach Cancer Centre, Southlake Hospital.

At this time, cremation will take place and a celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre (through the Southlake Foundation).
