James Francis Barbee Obituary

James Francis Barbee, 63 of Flatwoods, passed away peacefully in his sleep, September 29, 2024, at his home.

He was born May 13, 1961, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late James Francis Barbee, Sr. and Sylvia Ellena Jackson-Barbee.

He attended school in Plainfield, New Jersey before enlisting into the Service. James served his country proudly in the United States Navy for over 10 years. He was a Union Carpenter for over 25 years. He liked to live life without worries, and accordingly, to his motto. "It will be done tomorrow". He enjoyed working on his car, a 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner plus fishing, dancing and roller skating. He was also a martial arts enthusiast and loved talking about those achievements with family and friends.

Surviving is his daughter, Tiffany Anita Barbee and son James William Barbee, and grandchildren, Mya Reynolds, Ryan Estep, Carter Estep and Colton Jenkins; two sisters, Veronica E (Jackson) Davis and Patsy B (Jackson) Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and William "Billy" Sterling, a dear friend Jim called his brother.

Jimmy's memory will remain in the hearts of his family and friends, and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held later.
