Robert Thomas Lynch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather from Vian, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on August 21, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, Robert was the cherished son of James and Ferrol Lynch.
A proud Vietnam veteran and communications engineer, Robert embodied loyalty and perseverance both in his military service and throughout his civilian career. His passion for engineering could only be matched by his love for the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, and telling campfire stories—often to the admiration of many family and friends.
On September 4, 1965, Robert married the love of his life, Brenda Alice Lynch. Together, they spent 58 years of marriage until her passing. Their journey through military life, multiple relocations, and the ups and downs of civilian life was made easier by their unbreakable bond. Robert’s steadfast devotion to Brenda, their children, and grandchildren was the foundation of his life.
Alongside his career, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures—reading, his faith, and family. His spirituality, often demonstrated through quiet moments with his Bible, was a guiding force, providing strength and purpose through his 84 extraordinary years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Alice Lynch; his first wife, Linda; his daughter Lisa Ann Lynch-Block; his parents, James and Ferrol Lynch; and his siblings, James Lynch, Paul Lynch, and Virginia Lynch.
Robert leaves behind a large, loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his sons and daughter: Lincoln John Lynch, Loryne Marie Lynch, Travis Peter Lynch, Mark David Lynch, Scott Paul Lynch, Luke Anthony Lynch, and Bobby James Lynch. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Jerry James Lynch, and many adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. His great-grandchildren, spanning multiple generations, include children from Lincoln, Loryne, Lisa, Travis, Luke and Bobby, ensuring his legacy lives on for years to come.
Robert’s life was defined by quiet strength, love, resilience, and wisdom—all of which he shared generously with those around him. Though he may no longer be physically present, his legacy of love and devotion remains in the hearts of the many lives he touched.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, where Reverend Anthony Thomas will officiate. The services will be under the personal direction of John Garrett.
