SP4 Larry Lewis Dent a proud veteran of the United States Army proudly served 1967-68 until being honorably discharged 1970. During his time on active duty, upon completion of his basic training and AIT (Infantry) he was assigned to an infantry battalion in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Larry passed away peacefully on 9/29/24. He was the son of Russell Edwin Dent (deceased) and Betty Lou Cole (Helms) deceased, and born in Urbana, Ohio, growing up in Springfield, Ohio.
One of his greatest joys in life was helping others. He was an expert in karate and loved Elvis Presly. He lived a simple, but comfortable life. He was a great brother and friend; he will be truly missed.
Larry is survived by his sister, Betty Dent (California), Ada Helms half-sister (Michigan) Kevin Clifford (half-brother) Gerry Terry, daughters, Julie Smith and Laura Fletcher, eight grandchildren, Richard Dent (deceased) Ora Havens brother (deceased) Sherry Noel (deceased), 15 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, Sharon Parm, (fiance) Debbie Bartley best friend, and Michael Peters, who he raised and called son.
Graveside services will be held at Dayton National Cemetery, Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11am. Arrangements are being made by JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com
