Arthur Charles Giannotti, Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, at The Carlton in Fairfield, CT.
He was predeceased by the love of his life and devoted wife, Helen, with whom they shared 51 years of marriage and raised three children.
He was the loving father and father-in-law to Peggy Giannotti, Nancy (Giannotti) and her husband Jay Wehry, and Arthur (Charlie) Giannotti, Jr. and his wife Melissa. His love for his family knew no bounds. He adored and cherished his grandchildren Noelle, Nina, Cynthia, Tycho, Andre, and Lee, as well as his wife Renee and great-granddaughters Gianna, Lauren, and Sophia. Loved as though they were his own daughters and granddaughters are Kathy and Olivia Creager-Lupoli, Doreen Smegielski, Ashley (Smegielski) Iliopoulos, and Rachel Turiano.
Arthur was a man of unwavering resolve and dedication. He was employed by Handy and Harman for over 40 years and later at Mt. Grove Cemetery. His commitment to his work was unparalleled. He served in the Army Reserves and was proud to be an American, who taught his children the proper way to fold the American Flag.
He had a strong faith in God and was a longtime member of the Covenant Congregational Church, where he was a Trustee, Choir Member, and Sexton. He continued his faith at The Covenant Church of Easton.
Arthur was a passionate sports fan. He cheered loudly for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox, and the UCONN Women's Basketball team. Picking who would win NFL games was a weekly ritual, and he loved choosing the underdog.
He was a man of simple pleasures and loved being outdoors. Mowing the lawn, gardening, and raking leaves brought him joy. He also loved to walk; his favorite place to stretch his legs was Saint Mary's By the Sea. It was here, by fate, that he met Gloria Macaluso, with whom he found love and friendship in his later years, not only with her but also with her three children, Josie, Annette, and Anthony.
His family thanks Beth, Charen, Diane, Hillary, Marianna Susie, Wendy, the CHF Clinic's nurses at St. Vincent's Medical Center, and the staff at The Carlton for the many years of care they gave to Dad.
