Peter R. Lawrance Obituary

Peter Raymond Lawrance, 78, of Beach Haven Terrace, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024 at Southern Ocean Center in Manahawkin.

Peter grew up in Fair Haven, NJ before moving and graduating from Moorestown High School in 1964. He graduated from Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC, and then received a MGA from the Wharton School of Business. He spent most of his career with the State of NJ, culminating it as the Acting State Treasurer under Governor DiFrancesco before retiring.

Pete was the happiest near the water, either sailing or spending time on Long Beach Island. His sense of humor left everyone who met him with a story, and he loved to make people laugh. Called “Pops” by his grandchildren, he hated to miss an evening sunset over the bay, and was a friend to any cat he encountered.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Lawrance, and his brother Daniel Lawrance. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Farrell, and her husband Christopher; and Katherine Lawrance and her husband Clayton Cutler. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Samuel, Charlotte, and Kelcy, and ex-wife, Donna Lawrance.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd (corner of 12th St. & Blvd.), Ship Bottom, NJ 08008.
