Elizabeth Gatling Obituary

Elizabeth R. Gatling, 75, of Fort Washington, PA, passed away surrounded by her family on September 29, 2024

She was the beloved wife of James Gatling for over 56 years. Elizabeth was born in Philadelphia, PA to John and Ella Louise Dunn. She was predeceased by her brothers Lamont and Wayne Dunn, sister Denise Dunn-Mayo, and nephew Robert Mayo.

During her youth, she was involved in many activities. The one closest to her heart was assisting her mother mentor at risk youth in the Millcreek Community of West Philadelphia. Additionally, she was trained in dancing and performed in many recitals.

Her compassion for others carried over to her career as a certified nursing assistant. In this role, she fought feverishly for the rights of our elderly community and provided exemplary care to her patients. Once she retired, she enjoyed traveling and going to the casinos with her husband, knitting, shopping, and running an Avon business.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her loving sister, Susan Dunn, a sister "in Christ" Mary Serratore of Ambler, PA, three children: Elizabeth, James Jr., and Greg Gatling, 11 grandchildren: John, Anthony, Brandon, Eric, James, Terrell, Jeremy, Germaine, Jasmine, Takyrah, Xavier, 4 great grandchildren and an expected great granddaughter: Amaria Lily-Mei and hosts of in laws and cousins.

Memorial services will be held privately, and contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
