Frank Alan Forner, Jr., age 63, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29, 2024, in Skokie, IL, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1961, in Chicago, IL, to Jean and the late Frank Forner, Sr.
Frank is survived by his loving mother, Jean; his brother, Scott; and his sister, Lynn. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, Sr.
Frank’s career as an electrician was marked by dedication and hard work. Starting as an apprentice, he rose to the position of Electrical Foreman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He later served as an Electrical Inspector for the Village of Wilmette, bringing his expertise and meticulous eye to every project. His accomplishments included overseeing major projects, such as those at McCormick Place, leaving a lasting legacy in the city.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank loved spending time in nature, whether it was fishing in the Minnesota boundary waters or hunting with friends in South Dakota. He found peace in recent years spending time at his beloved cabin in Eagle River, WI.
Frank's love for animals, especially his dogs Lady, Desi, Katie, and Bonnie, was central to his life. He had a deep connection to his hometown, proudly supporting the Chicago Blackhawks and attending numerous games throughout his life. He also had a passion for American history, classic movies, and music from the 1940s to the 1970s.
With a sharp mind for math and engineering, Frank was always eager to lend a hand, using his skills to help family and friends with home electrical projects. He enjoyed close relationships with his neighbors, whom he cherished deeply. Known for his heart of gold, Frank’s warmth, infectious laughter, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he impacted.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Frank’s memory to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a nonprofit which provides guide dogs to individuals with vision loss, or to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, both of which support wounded veterans.
