Earl David Grubbs, Sr, age 80, resident of Greenville, SC, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2024. He was born in Greenville, SC, March 14, 1944. He is survived by his wife Dianne Davis Grubbs, son, Earl David Grubbs, Jr. (Lizzy), stepdaughters (who he thought of as his own), Tanya Clark and Brandee Clark Sponseller (Brett). Also survived by grandsons (who he adored), David Ellis Grubbs, Robert Cathcart Grubbs, William Seabrook Grubbs, Clark Harling Sponseller and Davis Carter Sponseller, and sister, Mary Blackstone. He was preceded in death by father, Carnell Morris Grubbs, mother, Zelphia Holcombe Grubbs, brother, Carl Grubbs and sisters, Sharon Lollis and Grace Coster.

Earl worked as a structural engineer for Sirrine for many years. He enjoyed shagging at Ocean Drive, golfing and spending time at the lake with family & friends, where he patiently taught the kids to water ski. Most recently the things that brought him the most pleasure was family gathering, Church, Sunday School Class and visiting with neighbors while walking the dogs. He will be remembered for his kindness, laughter and love of dogs, especially his beloved Sparky and Mele.

A memorial service will be held at Buncombe Street Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with visitation in the church parlor prior to the service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Earl's honor may be made to Buncombe Street Methodist Church - Basketball Program, 200 Buncombe Street, Greenville, SC, 29601 or Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC, 29607.
