Craig Douglas Lesher Obituary

Craig Douglas Lesher, 69, passed away while surrounded by his family on the morning of Sunday, September 29, 2024.

He lived a life dedicated to his faith and family. During his college years, he was involved in Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduating from college, he became a staff worker for Youth for Christ for two years. Then, he joined the US Navy and served active duty for 26 years. During that time, he served as a Naval Flight Officer for the E2 Hawkeye Squadron. He achieved the rank of USN Captain and spent his last three years as a deputy commander of Naval Network and Space Operations based in Dahlgren, Virginia.

Upon retirement, he focused on his joy for making music and spending time outdoors. He was often found with guitar in hand, serenading those around him. He was very involved with his church, Fredericksburg International Christian Church, and led small group bible studies and prayer groups. He also enjoyed playing guitar for the Praise Band and Men’s Group.

In his final days, he found comfort in 2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, a daughter and son, their spouses, and one granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
